Here is the RMW solution to supporting your Subaru engine in your VW Vanagon. Our carrier will work with a Subaru 2.2L, 2.5L. 3.3L SVX and a 3.0 H6. It is also designed to work in a 2wd or a Syncro. We looked at many different ideas and options when it came to designing this product. Our product itself has gone through a few different design changes since the first carrier was built 6 years ago. The final revisions have iced the cake. This is the best carrier bar available in the Subaru conversion market. We realize that this is a big claim. Thankfully it is easy to back up that claim and here is why. This is some basic background on why we do it the way we do. We firmly believe that if you have a Subaru engine you should have a engine mount that was designed to handle the power the engine delivers. That being said when we designed our engine carrier, there was no question which engine mount to use, we knew within the first three minutes that we would use the Factory Subaru motor mounts in the factory Subaru location. It just makes sense. This is the way Subaru designed the engine to be supported and it works so well for them that they have continued their same design for over 30 years. So with the factory mounts in place we began to build a robust engine carrier that would support the engine in the van. We considered all the important factors when designing this and there is a long list of variables. Here are a few items that our customers should be aware of so they can see the real value in why we manufacture the best carrier bar on the market.
1) We have built all of the components out of heavy steel. The tube cross bar is made of 1 1/4 .120 round tube that is bent to maximize ground clearance. The other components on our carrier are cut and formed 1/4 plate steel. This makes for a sturdy robust carrier that correctly support the weight of your Subaru engine.
2) We have incorporated additional urethane bushings to decrease any engine vibration. As you can see in the picture there are four bushings that support the carrier bar to the frame mount brackets. This additional insulator guarantees a smooth vibration free power train cruising down the road.
3) Maintenance. Let's face it, even though your Subaru engine is going to eliminate a lot of problems that the original VW engine plagued us with, your still going to have to work on it. Well, the entire design staff at RMW has been fixing cars for over 20 years. We been in the situation where the manufactured could have left you another 1/2 inch and it would have saved you days of labor. The RMW engine carrier is designed to leave you lots of room to work on the engine. From head gaskets to timing belts, it is all easy to do with the engine in your van. If you don't work on your own van then let your mechanic read this and he will have a sigh of relief. Finally someone designed a product that makes it easy to work on.
These are a few of the main reasons why the RMW carrier bar system is the one your van is asking for.
